Kinnarps operates in more than 35 countries with 14 offices in the UK. As a pioneer of flexible working their IT infrastructure (based on an ADSL network) hosted email, document management and file sharing in Heathrow and the global CRM system was hosted in Sweden. As the business grew, network capacity became a significant issue for users and system performance declined. Building Zones deployed Riverbed Steelhead WAN Optimization to eliminate latency to give branch offices seamless access and enable mobile working.
New wireless guest networks, installed and managed by Building Zones, are transforming the experience of visitors to the BBC’s Media Village site and the new Pacific Quay Scottish Headquarters. The two sites have been piloting the new technology with the aim of improving the experience of staff, consultants, freelancers, service partners and other organisations working with the BBC. The desired benefits were an increase in space utilisation and improved collaboration between the BBC and its external service providers.
BDP, one of the largest interdisciplinary design practices in Europe, wanted a wire-less LAN for its stunning new 33,000 square foot northern England headquarters overlooking the Piccadilly Canal Basin in Manchester. Deploying Wi-Fi correctly in a large multi-floor building is not easy. Once access points are in place and operational, radio signals can be muffled, deflected, and blocked by building materials, office machines, and even people. This is how we helped them meet the challenge.
